Plot Summary
Nathalie (Isabelle Huppert) is a philosophy teacher who has been married to her husband Hans (André Marcon) for decades. They have raised two children together, and their life is peaceful and fulfilling. One day, Hans suddenly confesses to Nathalie that he has a lover outside, and not only that, he plans to move out and live with her. Although Nathalie pretends to remain calm on the surface, she is deeply hurt inside.
Nathalie's mother (Édith Scob) was once a popular model but now suffers from depression, having attempted suicide multiple times. In desperation, Nathalie has no choice but to go against her mother's wishes and send her to a nursing home. Meanwhile, Nathalie follows the advice of her former student Fabian (Roman Kolinka) and goes to the commune he has established with his friends in the mountains.
